The Faculty of Information Engineering & Technology in collaboration with the IEEE Circuits & Systems Society (CASS) Egypt Chapter, recently concluded the 2025 IEEE CASS Seasonal School, titled "Hardware Meets Algorithms: Building and Automating AI Accelerators". This milestone event marked a significant addition to the IEEE CASS presence in the region, being the first school of its kind to be hosted at GUC and the first in Egypt to focus specifically on the intersection of AI hardware and design automation. The school was chaired by AP Dr. Eman Azab from electronics department.
A Bridge between Hardware and AI
Over four intensive days in December 2025, the school provided a high-level platform for MSc and PhD students, researchers, and senior electronics engineers to explore Artificial Intelligence acceleration[cite: 38]. The program focused on three critical pillars:
- AI accelerator circuit and architecture design [cite: 40]
- Analog & mixed-signal neural networks [cite: 41]
- AI-driven design automation (EDA) [cite: 42]
International Expertise and Academic Exchange
The school featured a lineup of distinguished keynote speakers from international universities and leading industrial entities[cite: 44, 45]:
- Professor Yongfu Li (IEEE CASS board of governors) [cite: 46]
- Prof. Ashraf Salem (Executive Director, Synopsys Inc) [cite: 47]
- Eng. Ahmed Aboelhadid (Senior manager, Siemens EDA) [cite: 48]
- AP Dr. Hesham Omran (Ain Shams University) [cite: 49]
- Dr. Yasmine El-Ogail (Zewail City University) [cite: 50]
The event fostered a unique environment for networking and knowledge exchange among researchers across Egypt, led by School Chair AP Dr. Eman Azab (GUC) and Co-Chairs Prof. Dr. Ahmed Madian and AP Dr. Lobna Said (Nile University)[cite: 61, 63, 64].
